5th International Seminar on Science Education

PPs UNY held The 5th International Seminar on Science Education with the theme "Industrial Revolution 4.0: Impacts, Challenges, and Strategies in Science Education". One of the aims of holding this activity is to create an academic atmosphere for both students and lecturers, as well as providing facilities to practitioners, especially in the field of Science Education, in carrying out scientific publications. “As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first man walking on the moon, we are entering the so-called fourth industrial revolution, also known as the 'smart' revolution. As science educators we need to do more than prepare graduates with up-to-date discipline-specific knowledge. "We need to ensure that all young people develop a range of transdisciplinary skills including critical thinking, ethical understanding, interpersonal skills, flexibility, teamwork and resilience," explained Prof. Vaille Dawson, Ph.D. main speaker in this seminar.

This annual activity is organized by the Chemistry Education, Physics Education, Biology Education and Science Education Study Programs, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) Postgraduate Program. It is hoped that this seminar can become a means for practitioners to increase scientific publications, especially in the field of Science Education. Apart from that, this seminar can be a forum for obtaining important information about teaching, learning evaluation, and Science Cluster Education methods from the educational experts presented. It is hoped that this abundant information can improve the ability of prospective educators or educators to apply it to teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This seminar is also expected to be an innovative step to develop education in Indonesia in order to prepare the skills of the younger generation in the 21st century. (ZN/ant)
